Buttonwillow, CA (February 3, 2025) – A deadly head-on collision occurred Saturday evening on State Route 58 (SR-58) near Interstate 5, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash was reported at approximately 5:57 p.m. in the westbound lanes, just west of the freeway. Two vehicles were involved in the collision, which prompted an emergency response from fire crews and law enforcement. Tragically, at least one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials shut down eastbound lanes temporarily while investigators and emergency personnel worked at the scene. Authorities contacted the Kern County Coroner’s Office and confirmed that an investigation is ongoing. Tow trucks were later called to remove both vehicles for further evidence collection.
