Cape Girardeau, MO (August 13, 2025) – Emergency crews responded early Wednesday morning to a traffic collision on MO-W, approximately one mile north of Cape Girardeau. The crash, which occurred at 6:30 a.m., involved a 2008 Buick Enclave and a 2019 Toyota RAV4. The incident led to one person being injured and both vehicles suffering extensive damage.
According to law enforcement, the crash occurred when the 16-year-old female driver of the Buick Enclave failed to yield and struck the side of the southbound Toyota RAV4. The impact caused the Toyota to hit a stop sign before coming to a stop. The Buick Enclave was towed by Cape County Towing, along with the Toyota RAV4, which was also towed from the scene.
The 28-year-old male driver of the Toyota RAV4 sustained minor injuries and was transported by emergency medical services (EMS) to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. The driver of the Buick Enclave was uninjured. Both drivers were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
Traffic in the area was briefly disrupted while authorities investigated the scene. The crash is under investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the failure to yield.
