Cape Girardeau, MO (January 24, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on Thursday morning tragically claimed the life of a young driver and left two others seriously injured. Emergency responders were dispatched to the crash scene in the 700 block of Mt. Auburn at approximately 9:37 a.m.
According to reports from the Cape Girardeau Police Department, a 2013 Hyundai Accent was traveling north when it crossed the center line and collided with a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban heading south. The driver of the Hyundai Accent, identified as 27-year-old Devon Holley, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Suburban’s driver, a 49-year-old woman from Jackson, MO, and her passenger, a 7-year-old child also from Jackson, sustained serious injuries in the crash. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have confirmed that the crash remains under investigation, with assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
