Capistrano, CA (January 4, 2025) – A tragic collision involving a motorcycle and a semi-truck occurred Friday morning on State Route 74 near 33608 in Capistrano. The crash, reported at approximately 10:45 AM, resulted in the death of the motorcyclist, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The initial reports indicate that the motorcycle collided with a semi-truck, causing the motorcycle to catch fire. Emergency responders, including fire crews, arrived quickly to manage the scene, extinguish the fire, and control traffic. The motorcyclist was not visible upon the arrival of responders, and the incident was later confirmed as a fatality.
The westbound lanes of SR-74 were closed for several hours as authorities conducted an investigation and cleared the scene. Tow services were called to remove the vehicles, and evidence was secured for further analysis. A SIG alert was issued for the westbound lanes, which remained in effect until later in the afternoon.
