Cass County, MO (July 20, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 49 left five people injured Friday evening just south of the 148.2-mile marker. The crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. and involved a rear-end collision between two vehicles, both of which sustained total damage.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 40-year-old woman from Peculiar, had come to a stop in the roadway. A 2025 GMC Sierra 2500, operated by a 47-year-old man from Adrian, was traveling southbound and failed to stop in time, striking the rear of the Jeep
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by J’s Southland Towing. All individuals were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Multiple agencies responded to assist at the scene, including the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and the Archie Police Department. The collision led to temporary lane closures and significant traffic delays as emergency crews worked to treat victims and investigate the cause of the crash.
