Celeste, TX (January 17, 2026) – Emergency responders were called to the scene of a serious two-vehicle collision with fatal injuries on U.S. Highway 69 near County Road 1036, approximately one mile north of Greenville. The crash prompted an immediate response from local emergency crews and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.
First responders arrived to find significant damage involving a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck. Emergency medical services worked to assess and treat those injured in the collision. A 69-year-old woman from Celeste suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two additional individuals were hurt in the crash and required medical attention.
According to authorities, the injured parties were transported to area medical facilities for treatment. One individual sustained serious injuries and was taken to Medical City of Plano, while another was transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Their current conditions have not been released.
U.S. Highway 69 was shut down in both directions for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigators conducted an on-scene examination. Texas Department of Public Safety is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, and no further details have been made available at this time.
