The crash was reported around 3:23 p.m. on September 6. According to Charlotte and Mecklenburg County Fire, at least four vehicles were involved in the collision, which caused significant damage and left multiple victims needing urgent care. Crews confirmed that five individuals sustained injuries, with three trapped in a late-model vehicle that required firefighters to remove the roof in order to free them.
Emergency responders, including several medic units, fire crews, and police officers, shut down both directions of Harris Blvd to allow for rescue operations and safe transport of the injured. Additional ambulances and resources were called to the scene due to the severity and number of patients involved. Two individuals were reported in critical condition, while others sustained serious but less urgent injuries.
CMPD assisted in managing the roadway closure while first responders worked to clear the wreckage and ensure the injured were transported to area hospitals. The crash remains under investigation.
