Charlottesville, VA (January 13, 2026) – A severe crash late Monday night near the intersection of Ivy Rd (Three Notch’d Rd) and Rockfish Gap Turnpike resulted in the death of one person and left another trapped inside a heavily damaged vehicle. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after 10:25 p.m.
Engine 56 and Ambulance 503 arrived to find a serious wreck involving significant vehicle damage. At least one individual was reported trapped and required extrication. During the rescue efforts, responders encountered a medical emergency involving a potential cardiac arrest. Officials later confirmed that one of the patients had a do-not-resuscitate (DNR) order in place.
Multiple fire and medical units worked to stabilize the scene and assist all individuals involved. The full details of the crash, including the number of people affected and contributing factors, have not been released pending further investigation.
