Charlottesville, VA (September 16, 2025) – A person riding a scooter was injured in a hit-and-run crash Monday afternoon near the intersection of Mott St and Thompson Dr in Charlottesville. The incident, reported around 3:10 p.m., involved a vehicle that struck the rider and then left the scene without stopping.
According to Charlottesville City Police Department radio traffic, the rider was clipped by the vehicle, causing them to drop their scooter. Although the individual sustained injuries in the collision, they declined emergency medical assistance at the scene. University law enforcement later attempted to check on the rider after they were found to be absent from their listed address near McCormick Rd.
While the extent of the injuries has not been fully detailed, officers noted that the victim showed signs of harm despite declining treatment. The driver involved in the crash did not remain at the scene, classifying the incident as a hit-and-run.
