Charlton, MA (August 21, 2025) – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday evening in a crash involving a motorcycle and a minivan near the intersection of Worcester Rd (Route 20) and H. Putnam Rd Extension in Charlton. Police reported receiving multiple calls about the collision around 5:00 p.m.
Emergency responders from Charlton Police and Fire arrived to find evidence of a severe crash between a 2025 Kawasaki ZR900 motorcycle and a 2022 Kia Carnival minivan. First responders, including paramedics, provided immediate medical assistance to the injured rider, who was transported to UMass-Memorial University Campus. Tragically, the motorcyclist later died from their injuries. The minivan driver was not injured and cooperated with investigators at the scene.
According to a preliminary investigation, the Kia minivan was traveling westbound on Route 20 when it attempted to turn onto H. Putnam Rd Extension. The motorcycle, which was traveling eastbound on Route 20, collided with the vehicle during the maneuver.
The Charlton Police Department, along with the Massachusetts State Police, continues to investigate the circumstances of the fatal crash.
