Chicago, IL (January 12, 2026) – Emergency crews responded to a serious auto accident involving injuries and a vehicle fire on Sunday afternoon on W 64th St in the West Englewood area of Chicago.
The incident occurred shortly after 2:25 p.m. and involved two vehicles: a black Mitsubishi Eclipse, which remained at the scene, and a dark-colored sedan that reportedly fled or was removed prior to fire crews’ arrival. Witnesses described smoke and flames coming from the area as firefighters worked to contain the situation.
Medical personnel evaluated those on site, treating at least one individual for injuries sustained in the crash. It is not yet clear how many people were hurt or whether any were transported to the hospital.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by local authorities.
