Chula Vista, CA (August 13, 2025) – Two men lost their lives and two women suffered serious injuries Monday night following a devastating two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Telegraph Canyon Road and Apache Drive, according to the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD).
The crash occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. when a red Ford Mustang traveling westbound on Telegraph Canyon Road struck a white Subaru Forester that was attempting to turn onto Apache Drive. The force of the collision caused the Forester to overturn, trapping all four occupants inside.
Firefighters worked to extricate the victims from the vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, the Forester’s driver, a 75-year-old Chula Vista man, died at the scene. The front passenger, a 76-year-old Chula Vista man, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but later succumbed.
Two elderly women riding in the back seat suffered life-threatening injuries but were later reported to be in stable condition as of Tuesday night.
The 41-year-old National City man driving the Mustang remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. CVPD confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash. The cause remains under investigation.
