Claremont, CA (June 25, 2025) – A deadly collision on the San Bernardino Freeway early Tuesday morning claimed the life of one driver following a violent rear-end crash involving a fire truck, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:37 a.m. on the westbound side of Interstate 10 near Mills Ave. According to CHP reports, a Toyota Tundra traveling along the freeway struck the rear of a parked or slow-moving fire truck under circumstances that remain under investigation.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but tragically, the driver of the Toyota Tundra was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
No other injuries were reported, and officials have not disclosed whether the fire truck was responding to an earlier incident at the time of the crash.
CHP investigators remained on scene for several hours to document evidence and determine the sequence of events that led to the fatal impact. Traffic along the westbound lanes was temporarily impacted during the response.
