Clarendon County, SC (January 17, 2026) – A deadly two-vehicle crash claimed one life early Friday morning on SC 260 near Durant Ln, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP). The collision occurred around 12:45 a.m. and involved a 2012 Chevy Impala and a 2007 Chevy Silverado.
Authorities say the Chevy Impala was traveling eastbound when it veered off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, and collided head-on with the westbound Silverado. The driver of the Impala, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, tragically died at the scene. The driver of the Silverado was not injured.
Following the impact, the Silverado also left the roadway and struck a nearby fence. No other vehicles were involved.
SCHP is continuing to investigate the crash to determine what led to the collision. The name of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
