Clinton, MO (July 7, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Ohio St and 3rd St in Clinton left both drivers with injuries Sunday afternoon. The crash, which occurred just before 12:45 p.m., caused significant damage and temporarily disrupted traffic in the area.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened when a 2010 Chevrolet Impala, traveling eastbound, struck the front of a northbound 2023 Dodge Charger as it was crossing through the intersection. The impact resulted in the Impala sustaining total damage and the Charger receiving moderate damage. Both vehicles were towed by Gary’s Tow Service.
The driver of the Impala, a 26-year-old woman from Clinton, MO, sustained minor injuries but declined ambulance transport and planned to seek her own medical treatment. The driver of the Charger, a 52-year-old Clinton man who was not wearing a seatbelt, also suffered minor injuries and was transported by Golden Valley EMS to Golden Valley Hospital for further care.
The crash remains under investigation, with assistance provided at the scene by MSgt. W. P. Bremer.
We extend our well wishes to both drivers and hope for their full and quick recoveries.
Intersection Collisions in Missouri Cities
Crashes at local intersections—like the one at Ohio St and 3rd St in Clinton—are among the most common and potentially dangerous types of urban accidents. These collisions often occur when one vehicle fails to yield or misjudges the timing of cross traffic, particularly when stop signs or uncontrolled crossings are involved.
In this incident, the eastbound vehicle reportedly struck the front of a northbound car, a classic angle collision. Even at moderate speeds, this type of impact can cause serious mechanical damage and physical injury—especially when safety restraints like seatbelts are not used. The male driver in this case was not belted at the time of the crash, increasing the likelihood of injury despite the relatively minor crash classification.
Urban intersections are shared spaces with high traffic density, pedestrian crossings, and frequent turning movements. A momentary lapse in attention or miscommunication between drivers can result in a collision, even in familiar neighborhoods.
Victims of intersection crashes often face medical concerns, vehicle replacement issues, and legal questions in the days that follow. Early medical evaluation—even for minor injuries—is crucial to ensure symptoms don’t worsen or go unnoticed. For those transported to local hospitals or seeking treatment on their own, keeping thorough documentation helps protect both health and legal interests.
As Clinton continues to grow, so too does the need for enhanced traffic awareness and potential safety improvements at key intersections.
