Comstock Township, MI (August 20, 2025) – A three-vehicle chain-reaction crash involving a UPS delivery truck left four people injured Wednesday on King Highway near S Sprinkle Rd, according to officials from Comstock Fire & Rescue.
The collision happened when a UPS truck was slowing to turn left into a nearby business. A white truck traveling behind the UPS vehicle also began slowing, but a red truck approaching from behind failed to reduce speed and rear-ended the white truck. The force of the impact pushed the white truck forward into the rear of the UPS truck, completing the three-vehicle sequence.
Four individuals sustained injuries during the crash, but all refused medical transport at the scene. Emergency crews responded promptly and assessed each person involved, confirming that none required hospitalization at that time. Traffic was temporarily impacted along King Hwy as responders cleared the vehicles and ensured the area was safe for travel.
The crash remains under review, and no citations or charges have been announced. Authorities have not released the names of those involved. We extend our thoughts to those injured and hope for a full and comfortable recovery.
Rear-End Chain-Reaction Crashes in Michigan
The crash on King Highway highlights a common but dangerous traffic scenario: rear-end collisions that lead to chain-reaction impacts. In this case, the initial failure of the red truck to slow down in time triggered a sequence that left four people injured, despite relatively low speeds.
Michigan roads—particularly in mixed commercial zones like King Hwy near S Sprinkle Rd—often see an increased risk of such accidents due to delivery vehicles, turning traffic, and variable speed conditions. When one vehicle stops or slows for a turn, even a moment of inattention from drivers behind can lead to pileups and injuries.
Although the individuals involved in this crash refused transport, rear-end impacts frequently result in soft tissue injuries like whiplash, back strain, or joint pain—symptoms that may develop hours or even days later. It is important for anyone involved in a crash to monitor their condition and seek medical evaluation if symptoms worsen.
From a legal and safety perspective, drivers are expected to maintain a safe following distance and be prepared to react to the vehicle in front of them. In Michigan, failure to do so can result in citations and liability for any resulting injuries or damage.
