Craig, MO(August 8, 2025) – A collision involving two pickup trucks at the intersection of US-59 and 3rd St in Craig resulted in one driver being injured Wednesday evening. The crash led to moderate vehicle damage and temporarily disrupted traffic in the area.

According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 5:50 p.m. on August 7 in Holt County. A 2024 Ford F-350, driven by a 37-year-old man from Macon, GA, was traveling northbound on US-59 when a 2015 Chevrolet 3500, driven by a 24-year-old man from Oregon, MO, turned northbound onto the highway from 3rd St. The front end of the Ford struck the front of the Chevrolet, sending the second vehicle off the east side of the road where it collided with a telephone pole.

The Ford F-350 remained in the northbound lane, coming to rest upright in the roadway. The Chevrolet suffered moderate damage but was driven from the scene. The Ford, however, had to be towed by Double D Towing due to its condition.

The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries and was transported by Atchison Holt Ambulance to Mosaic St. Joseph for treatment. No other injuries were reported, and the driver of the Chevrolet was not using a safety device at the time of the crash.

The Holt County Sheriff’s Office assisted Trooper R.K. Mott at the scene as the investigation continues into the circumstances leading to the crash.

We extend our best wishes for a quick recovery to the injured driver and hope all involved are safe.

Intersection Collisions in Rural Missouri

Even in quieter towns like Craig, intersection collisions remain a serious risk—especially at junctions involving major routes like US-59. The crash at 3rd St demonstrates how timing errors during turns can lead to significant damage and injury, particularly when larger vehicles like pickup trucks are involved.

In this instance, the Chevrolet’s attempted northbound turn placed it directly in the path of the Ford, leading to a front-end impact. The secondary collision with a telephone pole further emphasizes how quickly control can be lost after the initial crash. Such crashes are not uncommon in rural communities where stop signs or limited visibility may increase the risk of misjudging other drivers’ speeds or paths.

Drivers in Holt County and similar regions are reminded to exercise caution at all cross streets—especially when entering highways or merging during peak hours. While this particular incident did not result in life-threatening injuries, it highlights the importance of seat belt use, defensive driving, and ensuring full visibility before proceeding through intersections.

Recovering from even a minor injury crash can create stress, financial burden, and medical challenges. Victims are encouraged to seek guidance and support to help manage their recovery and understand their rights.
