Pedestrian Incidents on Georgia Highways
Pedestrian fatalities on major highways like I-285 have become an increasing concern in Georgia, particularly in high-speed corridors near major interchanges such as Moreland Avenue in DeKalb County. Despite the risk, incidents where individuals are found walking along or across interstate lanes continue to occur, often with devastating outcomes.
In this case, the pedestrian was reportedly in the left lane when struck, setting off a secondary crash that left two additional people injured. Chain-reaction accidents of this kind are not uncommon on interstates, where drivers have limited time to respond to sudden hazards—especially in early morning hours when visibility may be reduced.
While authorities continue to investigate the cause of the pedestrian’s presence on the roadway, this tragic event highlights the serious dangers of non-vehicle activity on high-speed roadways. It also underscores the risk to drivers who may suddenly find themselves involved in collisions through no fault of their own.
For victims and families affected by such incidents, the path forward can be overwhelming. Medical bills, legal questions, and emotional trauma all require thoughtful navigation and trusted support.
