Hit-and-Run Fatalities and Traffic Safety on I-25
This fatal hit-and-run incident near I-25 underscores a critical traffic safety issue in Denver and across Colorado: the increasing number of hit-and-run crashes, particularly on major highways. I-25, one of the state’s busiest corridors, sees heavy daily commuter traffic, and the complexity of its interchanges makes it a high-risk area for collisions.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, hit-and-run incidents have seen a troubling rise in recent years. When these crashes result in fatalities, they not only devastate families but also complicate investigations and delay justice for victims.
In response, Denver law enforcement continues to enhance enforcement along key highway segments, encourage public tips, and expand awareness campaigns aimed at reducing reckless driving. Authorities also remind drivers that leaving the scene of a crash, especially one involving injury or death, is a felony offense in Colorado.
