The incident was reported around 3:29 p.m. on FM 1423, just north of Minnesota Rd, and has prompted an ongoing investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Authorities identified the deceased as 58-year-old Francisco Perez Lopez, a resident of Donna. According to preliminary findings, Perez Lopez had been driving a silver Dodge pickup southbound on FM 1423 when, for reasons still under investigation, he veered into the northbound lane. Investigators with DPS continue to work through the evidence to determine the factors that contributed to this fatal collision. At this time, no additional details have been released.

Deadly Crashes in Texas
Tragic incidents like the fatal crash on FM 1423 near Minnesota Rd are devastating reminders of the unpredictable nature of traffic collisions in Texas. This particular roadway, located just north of Donna, is commonly used by local drivers and sees a mix of residential and agricultural traffic. While the exact cause remains unknown, the description of the vehicle veering into the opposite lane is consistent with many side-swipe and off-road collisions reported in the region.
