Winning Trials since 1979

Dresbach Township, MN (March 15, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 90 Westbound at milepost 275 in Winona County on Friday afternoon. The crash was reported at approximately 2:46 PM, prompting an emergency response from local authorities.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2013 Kia Sorento and a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado were both traveling westbound on I-90 when they collided. The Kia Sorento’s airbag deployed, and its driver, identified as Chelsea Lillian Flaherty, 39, of Dakota, MN, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Mayo Hospital La Crosse for treatment.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, identified as Orie James Sexton, 47, of Northfield, MN, did not sustain any injuries. His airbag did not deploy, and he did not require medical attention.

The road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the crash. Authorities have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision. Nodine Fire Department, MNDOT, and the Winona County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

The Minnesota State Patrol is actively investigating the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts are with Chelsea Flaherty, and we hope for her full recovery.

Car Accidents in Minnesota

Vehicle collisions on Minnesota highways, especially along high-speed corridors like Interstate 90, often lead to injuries and traffic disruptions. Common factors in crashes include driver inattention, speeding, and lane-change errors.

Fortunately, Minnesota enforces strict seat belt laws, which likely contributed to reducing the severity of injuries in this incident. The use of seat belts and properly functioning airbags plays a critical role in minimizing the impact of collisions.

Minnesota law requires all drivers involved in an accident to remain at the scene, provide aid if necessary, and cooperate with law enforcement. Seeking medical evaluation after a crash is crucial, even if injuries appear minor, as complications may arise later.

Victims of vehicle accidents may have the right to seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and other damages. Consulting with a legal professional can help those affected understand their rights and determine the next steps in their recovery process.
