Dubuque, IA (August 12, 2025) – Emergency responders from Dubuque rushed to a deadly collision Monday evening that claimed the life of a semi-truck driver on Highway 61. The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on the southbound lanes, near the intersection with Buncombe Rd.
According to the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, the semi-truck had pulled over to the shoulder of the highway. The driver exited the vehicle to inspect and secure the load when a southbound passenger vehicle struck the rear of the trailer, hitting both the semi and its driver.
Tragically, the semi driver was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of the injuries. The driver of the passenger vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation. Their current condition has not been publicly released.
