Motorcycle Accidents in Missouri
The fatal crash on US 412 highlights the dangers motorcyclists face on Missouri roadways, especially when other drivers fail to yield. Motorcycles offer little protection in the event of a collision, making riders especially vulnerable to life-threatening injuries. Intersections and cross-traffic maneuvers, such as when a vehicle pulls into the path of an oncoming motorcycle, are among the most common causes of fatal motorcycle crashes.
Dunklin County and the surrounding region continue to see motorcycle-related crashes each year, often resulting in devastating outcomes. Factors such as limited visibility, lack of protective gear, and driver inattention contribute significantly to the severity of these accidents. The fact that this incident resulted in Troop E’s 43rd fatality of 2025 underscores the ongoing risks along Missouri highways.
Motorcyclists are encouraged to always wear protective gear, including helmets, and remain cautious even on familiar routes. Drivers of passenger vehicles can play a crucial role in preventing tragedies by checking blind spots, yielding appropriately, and exercising extra care when sharing the road with motorcycles.
