Dunklin County, MO (August 4, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle crash on Missouri Route 25 left two women injured on Saturday afternoon when one vehicle reportedly crossed the center line and struck another head-on. The collision occurred approximately one mile north of Clarkton at around 3:45 p.m., according to a report by Trooper L.C. Pruiett of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash involved a 2005 Jeep Liberty traveling northbound and a 2017 Nissan Rogue traveling southbound. Authorities say the Jeep, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Clarkton, crossed the center line and collided with the southbound Nissan, driven by a 27-year-old Clarkton woman.
Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene. The driver of the Jeep was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. She was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital Stoddard in Dexter for treatment. The driver of the Nissan, who was not using a safety device, also suffered minor injuries and was taken to Piggott Community Hospital in Arkansas.
Neither vehicle had any passengers, and no other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
We wish both drivers a full and quick recovery.
Head-On Collisions in Missouri
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of traffic collisions, especially on rural highways like MO-25 in Dunklin County. These types of accidents often result from a momentary lapse in concentration, drowsy driving, or overcorrection, and even at moderate speeds, the impact can be devastating.
In this case, both vehicles were totaled, and two drivers were hospitalized due to a reported lane departure. Fortunately, injuries were minor; however, the presence or absence of seatbelt usage likely played a role in the outcomes. The driver of the Nissan Rogue was not wearing a safety device and still sustained injuries, while the Jeep driver, who was restrained, also required treatment.
Rural roads frequently lack the center barriers or lighting found on larger highways, making it easier for drivers to drift across lanes unintentionally. Missouri traffic authorities continue to emphasize the importance of attentive driving and proper lane discipline, particularly in areas with limited shoulder space and high closing speeds.
For those involved in crashes like this, the aftermath often includes dealing with physical recovery, vehicle loss, and navigating insurance claims, especially when fault is involved. Documentation and timely reporting are key to ensuring a smooth resolution.
