Durham, CT (January 17, 2026) – A serious three-vehicle accident with rollover was reported on Route 79 near 121 Madison Rd in Durham on January 16, prompting a major emergency response and a LifeStar helicopter transport for one injured individual.
The crash occurred around 8:41 p.m. and involved at least one vehicle that overturned, according to reports from the scene. Emergency medical services quickly requested LifeStar due to the severity of injuries, and a landing zone was established at the nearby firehouse to facilitate transport. One patient reportedly suffered a possible compound leg fracture, and EMS crews applied a tourniquet at the scene to control bleeding.
Authorities closed Route 79 in both directions at South End Ave while responders worked to treat the injured, manage traffic, and investigate the circumstances of the collision. Multiple agencies assisted with the response, and all involved vehicles were secured by crews on site.
