Fatal Car Accidents in New York
Sunday’s fatal crash in East Meadow underscores the dangers that can arise at busy intersections where turning vehicles cross oncoming traffic. Even at lower speeds, side-impact collisions can result in severe or fatal injuries due to the limited protection for occupants on the struck side of the vehicle.
New York traffic safety data shows that intersection-related crashes are often caused by failing to yield, misjudging the speed of approaching traffic, and driver inattention. Such collisions are particularly dangerous when one vehicle is traveling straight and the other is turning across its path.
Local Accident Reports encourages drivers to slow down, remain alert at intersections, and double-check for oncoming traffic before making turns. These precautions can significantly reduce the risk of severe accidents.
