El Paso, TX (February 11, 2025) – First responders, including paramedics, assessed and treated injuries following a DUI crash in Northeast El Paso. The incident occurred around 2:44 a.m. on Saturday when a black Audi A4, driven by 24-year-old Kimberly Dominguez, rear-ended an El Paso County Constable’s Office Patrol Unit at the 5300 block of Railroad Dr., near Nations Tobin Park.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO), the patrol unit, a pick-up truck, was responding to a call with its emergency lights activated, which caused it to move slower than normal traffic. Despite the flashing lights, investigators believe Dominguez failed to notice the patrol vehicle and collided with it, causing significant damage to both the back of the patrol unit and the front of her car.
The deputy in the patrol unit was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The extent of the injuries has not been disclosed, but authorities confirmed that the deputy received medical care.
Dominguez was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with the injured deputy, and we hope for a full and swift recovery.
DUI-Related Accidents in Texas
Driving under the influence (DUI) remains one of the most significant causes of accidents on Texas roads. Incidents like the crash on Railroad Dr. in El Paso highlight the dangers of impaired driving, not only to the driver but also to other motorists and emergency responders.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), DUI-related crashes accounted for a significant percentage of the over 15,000 serious injury accidents reported across the state in 2024. Alcohol impairs judgment, reaction time, and coordination, making it a leading factor in many severe and fatal accidents.
Drivers are urged to make responsible decisions, such as designating a sober driver, using rideshare services, or utilizing public transportation when consuming alcohol. These steps can prevent tragic accidents and save lives.
