Motorcycle collisions, such as the one in Elm Grove, often result in severe or fatal injuries due to the limited protection riders have compared to occupants of other vehicles. Intersections are particularly dangerous for motorcyclists, especially when other drivers fail to accurately judge the motorcycle’s speed or right-of-way during turning movements.
In Wisconsin, motorcycle fatalities remain a serious concern, with common contributing factors including driver inattention, unsafe turning, and speeding. Defensive riding techniques, increased awareness by other motorists, and infrastructure improvements at high-risk intersections are important in reducing these tragic outcomes.
