Evansville, IN (May 27, 2025) – A passenger was injured and a driver is facing multiple charges following a reckless driving crash late Friday night at the intersection of Burkhardt Road and Virginia Street. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m. on May 23, involved a dramatic chain of events that ended with a vehicle crashing into a stack of pallets in a Walmart parking lot.
According to Evansville Police, the crash began when 25-year-old Trevor Foster was driving south on Burkhardt Road and rear-ended another vehicle. Witnesses say he then crossed over the northbound lanes at a high rate of speed in an apparent attempt to flee the scene. Foster’s vehicle struck a curb on Virginia Street, spun through a grassy area, and came to rest after slamming into a wall of wooden pallets behind the store.
Officers arrived to find tire ruts in the grass and Foster’s vehicle heavily damaged. A passenger in the vehicle that was rear-ended was transported to a local hospital after reporting back pain and numbness in the legs—injuries that could require ongoing treatment and evaluation.
Foster reportedly told police that he passed out after eating a cookie. Despite displaying signs of possible narcotics impairment, officers were unable to perform a drug test at the time due to his post-crash physical condition.
An accident reconstructionist concluded that Foster had been moving slowly at the time of initial impact, but accelerated to over 60 miles per hour while crossing the grass—raising concerns about intent and potential danger to others in the area.
Foster was arrested and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail. He faces charges including Reckless Driving and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Injury. The investigation remains ongoing.
We hope for a full recovery for the injured passenger and commend the witnesses who assisted authorities.
