Fairfax County, VA (September 24, 2025) – A motorcyclist tragically lost their life early Wednesday morning following a single-vehicle crash on the ramp from I-495 northbound to eastbound Route 50. Virginia State Police responded to the scene around 5:40 AM after receiving reports of the crash near the interchange.
According to investigators, the motorcyclist appeared to lose control on wet pavement while navigating the ramp, leading to a violent collision with the guardrail. No other vehicles were involved in the incident. First responders arrived quickly, but despite their efforts, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash took place during early commuter hours, when weather conditions were likely contributing factors. Wet road surfaces can significantly reduce traction for motorcycles, particularly on curved ramps like the one leading to Route 50. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending family notification.
Traffic in the area was impacted for several hours as investigators worked the scene and cleared the damaged motorcycle. Virginia State Police have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the motorcyclist during this difficult time.
