Farmington, MO (January 2, 2025) – Emergency responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on southbound US 67 at Blomeier Rd early Wednesday afternoon. The crash occurred around 1:30 PM and involved a 2009 Toyota Corolla and a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, both of which sustained extensive damage.

According to initial reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Toyota Corolla, driven by a 51-year-old woman from Farmington, was traveling in the right lane of US 67 and attempted to make a left turn. During this maneuver, the Corolla entered the path of the Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 28-year-old woman, also from Farmington. The Equinox collided with the left side of the Corolla, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles.

Multiple injuries were reported, including three juvenile occupants in the Equinox. A 10-year-old female sustained moderate injuries, while a 2-year-old male and a newborn female each suffered injuries. All three were transported to Parkland Health Center Farmington by the St. Francois County Ambulance District. The driver of the Equinox and a 32-year-old male passenger were treated for injuries at the same facility. The driver of the Toyota Corolla also sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Marler’s Towing and Boyd’s Towing. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Our thoughts are with the injured individuals, and we wish them a speedy recovery.

Left-Turn Collisions and Roadway Safety in Missouri

Left-turn accidents are a common cause of roadway collisions, often resulting from misjudgments in timing or visibility. These types of crashes can lead to significant injuries and vehicle damage, particularly on high-speed roads like US 67.

Missouri drivers are urged to exercise caution when making left turns, especially on busy highways. Ensuring adequate time to complete the turn and yielding to oncoming traffic are critical steps to prevent such accidents. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) highlights that left-turn crashes account for a significant percentage of urban roadway accidents nationwide.

In accidents involving injuries, documenting the scene and promptly seeking medical attention are essential for recovery and potential compensation claims. Victims of accidents caused by improper maneuvers, such as left-turn errors, may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, property damage, and other losses.
