Fort Lauderdale, FL (January 2, 2025) – A tragic crash on New Year’s Eve left a 28-year-old woman dead after she was struck by an SUV on Interstate 95. The incident occurred around 6:15 PM on Tuesday in the northbound lanes, just south of Sunrise Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Officials reported that the woman was walking along the highway shoulder when she abruptly moved into the lane of traffic. An SUV traveling northbound accidentally struck her. Emergency responders from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead.
