Fort Oglethorpe, GA (January 16, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle collision involving seven vehicles occurred at the intersection of Battlefield Parkway (GA-2) and Dietz Rd, resulting in four drivers being hospitalized, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP). The crash led to a large-scale emergency response and caused significant traffic disruption in the area.
First responders, including paramedics and fire crews, worked quickly to assist those injured in the pileup. Four individuals were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment, though officials later confirmed that two have since been released. The injuries ranged in severity, but no fatalities have been reported.
GSP investigators stated that the crash was triggered when an 83-year-old woman from Ringgold, driving a Ford Explorer, accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake while approaching the intersection. Her vehicle collided with a white Kia Forte, a white GMC Sierra, and a brown Honda CR-V—vehicles that were all stopped at the red light on Dietz Rd.
The force of the impact caused a chain reaction. The GMC Sierra was pushed forward into a gray Honda Civic and a pink Lexus IS300, while the Ford Explorer flipped and struck the roof of the Lexus IS300 before finally coming to rest in the right westbound lane of Battlefield Parkway.
A white Kia Sorento traveling westbound on Battlefield Parkway was also damaged by debris from the crash.
The Georgia State Patrol confirmed that charges against the driver of the Ford Explorer are currently pending. The scene has since been cleared, and normal traffic patterns have resumed.
Our thoughts are with those injured in this alarming crash, and we wish each of them a swift and complete recovery.
