Fort Smith, AR (April 25, 2025) – A rollover crash caused injuries and significant traffic delays early Thursday morning on the southbound lanes of Interstate 540 in Fort Smith. The incident occurred around 6:46 a.m. near mile marker 9, impacting both the left lane and shoulder.
First responders, including paramedics, assessed and treated individuals hurt in the crash. Although the exact number of people involved and the severity of the injuries have not been publicly confirmed, authorities did state that injuries were reported at the scene.
The Fort Smith Police Department issued a traffic alert shortly after the crash at 7:23 a.m., warning drivers to expect major delays stretching from Grand Ave to Van Buren. Traffic remained backed up as emergency crews worked to stabilize the situation and remove the overturned vehicle.
By 7:39 a.m., the scene was officially cleared and normal traffic flow had resumed, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT). The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
