Intersection Collisions in Fort Wayne
Intersections like Lake Ave and Oneida St are common sites for traffic accidents in Fort Wayne due to a combination of steady traffic flow, turning movements, and multiple access points for side streets and businesses. Congested conditions during peak travel times can increase the likelihood of crashes, especially if drivers are distracted or fail to yield.
According to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, intersection-related crashes account for a substantial portion of the state’s injury-causing accidents each year. Contributing factors often include speeding, running red lights, and distracted driving. Even at moderate speeds, urban collisions can cause significant injuries to drivers and passengers.
Those injured in intersection crashes should seek prompt medical evaluation to address any injuries, even if symptoms are not immediately apparent. Collecting evidence—such as photographs, witness statements, and official reports—can be crucial when filing insurance claims or pursuing legal action. Indiana law allows injury victims to seek compensation when another driver’s negligence is a contributing factor, covering medical bills, lost wages, and other related damages.
