Fort Worth, TX (August 11, 2025) – A deadly crash early Monday morning shut down all westbound lanes of Interstate 30 near downtown Fort Worth. The collision, which occurred around 6:26 a.m., involved at least five vehicles in the westbound lanes close to the US 287 interchange.
Responding officers and medics arrived to find a passenger in one of the vehicles who had tragically died at the scene. Crews worked to assess others for possible injuries, though no other major injuries were reported. Investigators remained at the location to examine the circumstances of the crash, keeping the westbound lanes closed while their work continued.

Multi-Vehicle Collision Risks in Texas
Crashes involving several vehicles, like the one on I-30 near US 287, are often more complex to investigate and resolve due to the number of drivers, passengers, and possible contributing factors. In Texas, heavily traveled interstate corridors are particularly vulnerable to chain-reaction incidents, especially during peak commute hours.
Factors such as sudden lane changes, reduced visibility due to weather, or traffic slowdowns ahead can quickly escalate into multi-vehicle collisions. These types of crashes not only pose a higher risk for severe injuries and fatalities but also lead to prolonged roadway closures, impacting thousands of drivers. While the cause of Monday morning’s tragedy is still under investigation, it reinforces the importance of defensive driving and maintaining safe following distances, particularly in high-speed traffic zones like the I-30 corridor through Fort Worth.
