Franklin County, MO (July 10, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning in Franklin County left one man injured after a Toyota pickup was struck while attempting to cross an intersection. The crash occurred around 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of MO-100 Westbound and Route OO, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Investigators report that a 2018 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 58-year-old man from Pacific, MO, attempted to cross the intersection and failed to yield to a westbound 2016 Lexus RX350. The Lexus, driven by a 64-year-old man from Pewaukee, WI, struck the right side of the Tacoma.
The impact forced the Toyota off the right side of the road, where it struck a road sign, continued off the roadway, and then collided with a tree. The pickup sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Big Boy’s Towing.
The driver of the Toyota suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Metro West Fire Protection ambulance to Mercy Hospital – St. Louis. The driver of the Lexus was not reported injured but his vehicle sustained extensive damage and was also towed.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver as he recovers from the crash.
Intersection Collisions and Failure to Yield Crashes in Missouri
Failure to yield is one of the leading causes of intersection crashes in Missouri, especially in early morning hours when visibility may be low and traffic volume is just beginning to increase. Wednesday’s crash at MO-100 and Route OO in Franklin County highlights the dangers that can arise when drivers misjudge gaps in traffic or attempt to cross without fully assessing oncoming vehicles.
In this incident, the driver of the Toyota Tacoma reportedly failed to yield while crossing the westbound lanes of MO-100. The resulting side-impact collision caused the vehicle to strike roadside objects, including a sign and a tree—amplifying the severity of the crash.
Crashes involving side impacts often result in moderate to severe injuries due to the limited protection on vehicle doors and panels. Even when seat belts are worn, the force from side collisions can lead to internal injuries, broken ribs, or head trauma. Quick response from EMS and proper restraint usage likely helped reduce the severity of injuries in this case.
For victims, the aftermath of such a crash can include medical treatment, lost work time, and long-term recovery needs. Understanding legal options, including compensation for damages and medical costs, is essential—especially when one driver is found at fault for failing to yield.
