Semi-Involved Collisions on Wisconsin Highways
Crashes involving semi-trucks—especially on rural state highways like Hwy 57—often result in serious injuries due to the size and force of impact. These collisions are more likely to require specialized responses such as vehicle extrication, air medical support, or paramedic intercepts.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, semi-related crashes have been on the rise in recent years, particularly on two-lane highways in less urbanized counties like Ozaukee. Factors such as speed, blind spots, and braking distance are critical safety concerns in such incidents.
Drivers are encouraged to maintain extra distance from large vehicles and avoid sudden lane changes. Following a crash, immediate medical care and a full investigation are crucial to ensure proper treatment and accountability.
