Fulton County, GA (January 17, 2026) – A deadly three-vehicle crash occurred Saturday morning along I-285 West near Old National Hwy, claiming the life of one individual and leaving two others seriously injured. Georgia State Patrol (GSP) confirmed that the incident happened near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and involved a passenger vehicle, a tractor-trailer, and an abandoned car on the roadside.
According to investigators, a Honda Accord was traveling westbound on I-285 when it veered out of its lane and struck the left side of a nearby tractor-trailer. The force of the collision pushed the Accord off the roadway and into an unoccupied, abandoned vehicle parked on the shoulder.
Tragically, one passenger in the Honda was killed in the crash. The driver and a second occupant sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Emergency medical services and troopers worked urgently to assist all parties and secure the heavily impacted crash scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the individuals involved, pending notification of next of kin.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and hope for a full and speedy recovery for those injured in this tragic accident.
