Glennonville, MO (April 24, 2025) – Emergency crews responded early Thursday morning to a serious two-vehicle collision along Route J, approximately two miles east of Glennonville in Dunklin County. The crash, reported at 6:23 a.m., resulted in multiple injuries and significant vehicle damage.
According to a report from Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E, the collision occurred when a 2010 Dodge Journey, traveling eastbound and driven by a 45-year-old woman from Doniphan, crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2014 Chrysler Town and Country. The Chrysler, driven by a 32-year-old woman from Campbell, was carrying two additional passengers, including an 11-year-old boy.
Both vehicles sustained total damage and were removed from the scene by 2K Towing. Emergency medical services transported the two drivers to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Two passengers from the Chrysler—a 28-year-old woman and the juvenile—also sustained injuries and were taken to the same facility by private conveyance.
Notably, the Chrysler driver and one adult passenger were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. All injured individuals are reportedly in stable condition as of this update. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet released information on any citations or contributing factors beyond the center line violation.
Our thoughts are with all those injured in this morning’s crash as they begin the road to recovery.
Head-On Collisions in Missouri
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes due to the combined force of impact and the increased risk of serious injury to all vehicle occupants. The early morning crash east of Glennonville illustrates the devastation that can result when a vehicle crosses the center line—often leaving the opposing driver with little or no time to react.
Missouri’s rural routes like Route J, which often lack divided medians, are particularly vulnerable to these types of accidents. Low visibility, driver fatigue, or distraction can contribute to center line crossings, especially during early commute hours when road conditions and alertness may be compromised.
This incident also raises concerns about seatbelt compliance. The Chrysler’s driver and one adult passenger were not restrained at the time of impact, increasing their vulnerability to injury. Missouri law requires seatbelt use for all front-seat occupants, and this crash highlights why such safety measures are so critical—especially for drivers transporting family members, including children.
Thankfully, all injured parties received timely medical care at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, which plays a crucial role in emergency response for Dunklin County residents. Access to nearby trauma care is vital in reducing the long-term impact of traffic injuries, particularly for young passengers.
For families involved in crashes like this one, the aftermath often includes navigating vehicle replacements, medical bills, insurance claims, and emotional recovery. Local support services and informational resources are essential in helping victims regain stability.
