Greene Co, MO (September 15, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon on MO-BB sent one driver for medical care after a car crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming truck head-on about nine miles east of Walnut Grove.
The crash occurred around 12:40 p.m. as an 18-year-old man from Willard was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue eastbound on MO-BB. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Rogue veered over the center of the roadway and collided with a westbound 2022 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 45-year-old woman, also from Willard.
The impact left both vehicles heavily damaged and required towing by Pro Tow. The woman driving the Silverado, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained injuries and later sought treatment at Mercy Urgent Care. The teenage driver of the Nissan was reportedly uninjured.
Corporal D.W. Henley led the investigation, with assistance from Trooper B. Gunby. Officials have not released further details on what caused the Nissan to cross into oncoming traffic, and the investigation remains ongoing.
We hope for a swift recovery for the injured woman and extend our support to all involved in this serious incident.
Centerline Collisions in Missouri
Head-on crashes, especially those caused by vehicles crossing the centerline, are among the most severe types of collisions on Missouri’s rural roadways. Saturday’s accident on MO-BB near Walnut Grove illustrates how a split-second deviation from the lane can result in significant injuries and total vehicle damage.
In this case, the Nissan Rogue traveled into the path of a Chevrolet Silverado, causing a violent impact. While both drivers were from Willard, only one suffered injuries—a reminder that even minor lapses, such as drifting across the centerline, can carry major consequences. The absence of seatbelt use also contributed to the severity of the injury sustained.
Greene County’s rural highways like MO-BB often lack barriers or rumble strips to prevent lane-crossing, making driver attentiveness and safe speed crucial. Factors such as distraction, overcorrection, or drowsiness often play roles in these types of collisions.
If you’ve been injured in a crash involving a centerline violation, knowing your rights and accessing the right help early can make a significant difference in your recovery process.
