Greensville County, VA (September 23, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash along a stretch of Interstate 95 in Greensville County sent four people to the hospital Monday afternoon, with one individual suffering serious injuries.
The chain-reaction collision occurred at approximately 2:38 p.m. near mile marker 3, close to Mitchell’s Mill Rd. Virginia State Police reported that the driver of one vehicle struck the rear of another car at highway speed, triggering a domino effect that ultimately involved four vehicles.
One of the drivers, identified as the individual who initiated the collision, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond for specialized care. Three other motorists were transported by ambulance to a hospital in nearby Emporia for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Traffic on I-95 was significantly impacted while crews worked to clear the wreckage and ensure safe passage for other motorists. Authorities remained on scene for several hours to investigate and reconstruct the crash. Preliminary information suggests excessive speed or following too closely may have been contributing factors, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Virginia State Police have not yet released the names of those involved. Additional updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
