Grundy County, MO (August 9, 2025) – A fatal multi-vehicle crash occurred Friday night, August 8, on US-65, approximately 2 miles south of Spickard, Missouri. The incident took place at approximately 11:47 PM, involving a 2011 Ford F-150, a 2021 Ford Expedition, and a 2003 Toyota Tundra.
According to the investigation, the crash occurred when the driver of the 2011 Ford F-150, traveling southbound, attempted to overtake the 2003 Toyota Tundra, which was also traveling southbound. As they approached a hillcrest, the Ford F-150 crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with the 2021 Ford Expedition, which was traveling northbound. After the initial collision, the Ford F-150 skidded back into the southbound lane and struck the Toyota Tundra.
The Ford Expedition, driven by a 21-year-old female from Spickard, MO, sustained serious injuries. She was transported by Mercer County Ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, MO. The Toyota Tundra, driven by a 25-year-old male from Gallatin, MO, sustained extensive damage. The driver was not injured, but the vehicle was towed.
The driver of the 2011 Ford F-150, an 82-year-old male from Trenton, MO, was pronounced deceased at Wright Memorial Hospital by Dr. Jeanette Dillan at 12:49 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The 72-year-old female occupant of the Ford F-150, also from Trenton, sustained serious injuries and was transported by Grundy County Ambulance to Wright Memorial and later transferred to Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza.
The Toyota Tundra skidded off the east side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and a fence, and came to rest facing south. The Ford F-150 overturned and came to rest facing north on its wheels after skidding off the west side of the road. The Ford Expedition skidded off the east side and came to rest facing south.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, which was assisted by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, MODOT, and Spickard Fire Department.
