Harrison Co, MO (September 19, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 left multiple people injured Thursday evening near Eagleville. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred at about 5:34 p.m. near the 107-mile marker when a northbound 2012 Chevrolet Impala attempted to turn into an emergency crossover and collided with a 2005 Ford Econoline E450 traveling in the passing lane.
The impact caused the Ford to travel off the west side of the roadway, where it struck the emergency crossover, went airborne, and came to rest in the median. The Chevrolet also ran off the west side of I-35 before stopping in the median. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene.
The crash resulted in multiple injuries. Eight young women, ranging in age from 19 to 22 and traveling in the Ford, suffered moderate injuries. They were transported to Harrison County Community Hospital by local EMS crews, with some also taken to Decatur County Hospital. The Impala’s driver, a 75-year-old woman from Blythedale, was not listed among the injured.
Trooper J.P. Koops of Troop H investigated the crash, with assistance from Sgt. B.R. Hilliard, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, and the Eagleville Fire Department.
Our thoughts are with all those recovering from this crash, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Missouri
Thursday’s crash near Eagleville demonstrates the dangers of unexpected maneuvers on high-speed interstates. Attempting to cross into an emergency crossover at highway speeds can have catastrophic consequences, particularly when vehicles in adjacent lanes are traveling at full speed. The collision on I-35 not only destroyed both vehicles but also left eight people injured and in need of urgent medical care.
Multi-occupant vehicles, such as the Ford Econoline involved in this crash, heighten the risks in severe collisions because multiple people can be injured at once. In this case, all of the injured passengers were young women from Oklahoma traveling together, underscoring how quickly a single driver’s decision can endanger many lives.
According to Missouri traffic data, interstate crashes often lead to higher injury totals due to speed, congestion, and the lack of room for corrective action. Emergency crossovers are intended strictly for use by law enforcement and emergency responders, and misuse by civilian drivers significantly increases the risk of high-impact collisions.
Beyond the immediate injuries, crashes of this scale also strain local emergency resources. Multiple ambulances and hospital systems were required to care for the victims, while law enforcement and fire crews managed the scene and traffic control.
Local Accident Reports urges drivers in Missouri to use extreme caution on interstates, avoid sudden maneuvers, and never attempt to use emergency crossovers. Staying alert, maintaining safe lane discipline, and respecting roadway restrictions are critical to preventing tragedies.
