Hartford, CT (January 17, 2026) – A two-vehicle accident near the intersection of Sigourney St and Collins St in Hartford on January 16 resulted in at least one injury and a damaged fire hydrant, prompting a multi-unit emergency response just after 5:00 p.m.
The crash was initially detected by an automated crash system, with reports indicating a hand injury and smoke coming from one of the vehicles. Engine 5 and Ladder 4 were among the first to arrive on scene, where they found one vehicle had struck a hydrant, shearing it off at the base. First responders confirmed one occupant was still at the scene and required medical evaluation.
Crews later determined the collision involved two vehicles, and there were indications that one of the drivers may have left the area before authorities arrived. Fortunately, there was no need for extrication, and the scene was secured by fire and police personnel.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. We send our best wishes to the individual injured and hope for a full recovery.
