Hartford, CT (January 17, 2026) – A three-vehicle collision occurred early January 16 on I-84 West near the Capitol Avenue exit, leaving multiple people injured and causing significant disruption on the highway. The crash took place shortly before 6:00 a.m. in the westbound lanes, just prior to Exit 46, and was reported along the left side of the roadway.
District Two emergency crews arrived on scene to find three damaged vehicles and began evaluating the situation. While specific injury details were not immediately released, responders confirmed that there were injuries at the scene and medical assistance was required. State Police also responded to the crash and coordinated traffic control and the preliminary investigation.
Traffic was slowed in the area as authorities worked to assess those involved and clear the roadway of debris. The left lane remained blocked for a period while responders ensured the area was safe for passing motorists.
