Hayward, CA (September 21, 2025) – Emergency responders were dispatched Thursday afternoon to a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 880 that left at least one person injured and requiring hospital care.
The accident occurred around 1:47 p.m. on the southbound side of I-880 near the interchange with Interstate 238, a busy connector frequently used by commuters and commercial traffic alike. Units from the California Highway Patrol and emergency medical services responded swiftly to the scene.
Emergency responders from Hayward Fire and Rescue worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the collision. At least one individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The condition of the victim has not been released, and the names of those involved have not been disclosed.
Authorities have not confirmed the events leading up to the crash, and no contributing factors have been announced. Traffic in the area was impacted temporarily while crews worked to clear the scene and begin an investigation.
The CHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
