Henry Co, MO (September 19, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash in Henry County left two people injured Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Missouri Highway 13 and County Road NE 1400. The accident was reported at 4:55 p.m. when a westbound 2000 Ford Focus failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a northbound 2014 Ford Fusion.
Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Gary’s Tow. The driver of the Focus, a 33-year-old woman from Warrensburg, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. She suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City. The Fusion’s driver, a 16-year-old male from Holden, was properly restrained and sustained only minor injuries. He was initially treated at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City for further care.
Trooper G.W. Winesburg of Troop A investigated the collision, with assistance from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Clinton Fire Department, and Golden Valley EMS.
Our thoughts are with both injured drivers as they recover from this accident.
Two-Vehicle Collisions in Missouri
The crash on MO-13 underscores the risks posed by failing to stop at controlled intersections, particularly along state highways where traffic moves at higher speeds. When a driver disregards a stop sign and enters the path of another vehicle, the result is often a high-impact collision that causes severe vehicle damage and significant injuries. This incident demonstrates how critical right-of-way rules are to preventing crashes and protecting lives.
Missouri crash data shows that failure-to-yield accidents remain one of the leading causes of roadway injuries and fatalities statewide. The difference in outcomes between the two drivers in this crash also highlights the importance of seat belt use. While the 16-year-old driver was restrained and suffered only minor injuries, the unrestrained driver sustained more serious injuries that required ambulance transport to a trauma center.
In rural counties like Henry, crashes at highway intersections can also strain emergency services. Responders from multiple agencies, including law enforcement, fire crews, and medical personnel, are often needed to provide care and clear the scene. These delays impact not only the injured parties but also the broader community as traffic disruptions ripple through local routes.
Local Accident Reports encourage all Missouri drivers to remain alert at intersections, come to complete stops at posted signs, and wear seat belts at all times. By taking these precautions, motorists can greatly reduce their risk of injury in the event of a crash.
