Hillsborough County, FL (January 6, 2025) – A 61-year-old man from Gibsonton lost his life on Saturday in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and Shirley Ave, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The accident occurred around noon when the man, driving a Chrysler Concorde eastbound on Shirley Ave, entered the intersection. At the same time, a Mazda CX-5, driven by a 57-year-old man from Tampa, was traveling southbound on U.S. Hwy 41. The Mazda struck the Concorde as it entered its path.
Emergency responders transported the Gibsonton man to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Mazda and three passengers sustained minor injuries in the collision and were treated at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the factors that contributed to the incident.
