Hollywood, CA (September 12, 2025) – A Thursday morning incident on the northbound side of US-101 in Hollywood left a woman injured after a piece of concrete struck her vehicle, authorities said.
The incident took place around 7:40 AM just north of the Western Ave exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was traveling on the freeway when debris—believed to be a dislodged piece of concrete from the roadway or nearby structure—struck her vehicle with enough force to cause injury.
Following the impact, emergency services responded to the scene to assist the victim, who sustained injuries that required medical attention. Paramedics arrived and treated the woman before she was transported to a nearby hospital. The extent of her injuries has not been released, but officials confirmed she was alert at the scene.
The unexpected nature of the crash prompted immediate emergency repair work on the affected section of the freeway. As a result, traffic came to a near standstill during the busy morning commute. Lanes remained closed for an extended period while crews assessed and addressed the structural issue, adding further delays for northbound drivers in the Hollywood area.
Investigators are working to determine how the concrete became dislodged and whether any structural deficiencies or prior complaints had been reported. CHP has not released additional details about the source of the debris but has confirmed that a full roadway inspection was conducted following the incident.
Our thoughts are with the injured woman as she recovers.
